Steel recycling plant inauguration

On the day of 9 May 2019, a plant was selected at the REVET factory in Pontedera, in the province of Pisa, which selects and crushes steel packaging from separate collection.

The multi-material is selected and shredded, then transformed into briquettes and delivered to the foundries to become a new material to be recycled.

When fully operational, the plant will treat 10 thousand tons of steel packaging a year, of which more than half from light and heavy multi-material selection plants, while the rest from mechanical biological treatment plants of the undifferentiated collections.

In line with the corporate mission of OMAR and ITR, and with the support of the Ricrea National Consortium, the installed system aims at environmental, employment and economic benefits deriving from the conversion of the economy towards a circularity model and better recycling management, configuring itself as mandatory directions to reduce the environmental impact and the waste of energy in many fields of processing.
